Hand sculpted glass starfish. This Silver Aqua Dichro Creeping Starfish is created by adding a thin layer of Dichroic Glass to the bottom of the starfish, which is metallic and glitter-like. The Dichro gives the appearance of shimmering sand.

When the glass is hot, John lets the molten glass fall over the edge of a metal table, capturing the moment when the starfish is creeping away, just like it clings to rocks in the ocean.

Choose between Flat and Creeping Styles. Flat starfish will rest on a flat surface with no legs bent over the side. Creeping starfish have two bent legs, capturing the moment when the starfish is creeping away, just like it clings to rocks in the ocean.

It is about 5" in diameter.

This medium-sized marble measures about 2 inches and is inspired by a rainbow. I start by using long rods of different colored glass, which are then rolled up onto a solid mass of molten clear glass. Next, it is twisted into a spiral pattern and shaped with a mold into a marble.

Sculpted glass mushrooms that represent fungus seen often in Humbolt county and created by John Gibbons of Eureka, California. These are vibrant variations of color and texture with a glass base that is made to capture the lush forest environment that mushrooms grow from. These art glass specimen are made to sit on a table or shelf. John has embraced the essence of a mushroom in nature while highlighting the properties of glass. The mushroom is made with the color pattern on the surface of the fungus creating an illusion of a freshly sprouted specimen.

Purchase includes 1 mushroom with a height of about 3.5 inches.

This large marble measures about 2.5 inches and is inspired by tube sponges in the coral reef. The colors that form the tubes in the marble are created by layering rods of glass and then stretching the rods into another rod that is then cut into short sections called murrine. After the murrine are formed, I put the coral reef together and finish off the marble in a graphite mold to give it a perfect sphere shape.

A wonderful addition to any home. A unique way to light up a room, with starfish giving a finishing touch. Using classic glass blowing techniques a soft white colored glass is blown giving a soft glow when illuminated. To this beauty is the perfect placement of three starfish reaching for the light. Standing about 10.5 inches high and 5.5 inches wide.

“ Starfish Amphora”
John was inspired by the sunken Greek urns found on the bottom of the Mediterranean sea that when unearthed have living creatures clinging to them and are sparkling from the wet seawater. This vase measures 17 inches high and 9 inches wide and has seven hand sculpted aqua glass starfish fused to the outside of it. This would make a great statement piece in any home, beach house, or beach cottage. John has been blowing glass for over 20 years and started this ocean inspired starfish series when he lived in San Diego back in 2015.

This whimsical hand blown centerpiece could be used as a fruit bowl, or just empty as a decorative piece for your entryway or dining room table. John starfish theme knows no bounds from starfish vases to single starfish and now starfish bowls. This bowl is about 12 inches tall by 10 wide.

This hand blown glass platter was created by first rolling a molten clear bubble of glass over multiple rods of black glass. The next is another layer of molten clear glass is gathered on the bubble, it is blown into a sphere, and the a molten bit of clear is dropped on the bottom to create a foot for the platter. The final move is to put another metal rod on the bottom, brake off the blow pipe, and spin the sphere into a large flat plate. It is then quickly dropped over a wok to give it the bowl-like form. When finished the platter is place into a 950 degree oven to cool slowly overnight.

This platter measures about 17 inches wide. The photo is the exact platter that will be shipped to you.

This one of a kind beautiful marble is about 2 inches in size. The sphere captures a swirl of pink and a beautiful gold color glass in the moment. Soft gold and pink are twisted  to create a spiral form. A graphite mold shapes the glass into a perfect sphere.

This black glass hat and green glass apple are inspired by the painting created by Margritte, “The Son Of Man”. The painting is the most iconic image of the surrealism movement. A self-portrait painting of a man in an overcoat and a black “bowler” hat standing in front of a wall with a green apple obstructing his view.
Using classic glass blowing techniques, a perfect green apple is placed on top a classic black colored glass hat. This glass sculpture is about 8 inches wide and 6 inches in height.

This beautiful pendant light is inspired by Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night. A wonderful addition to any home. A unique way to light up a room, with a wonderful color palate. Using classic glass blowing techniques, colored glass is blown and shaped into a ready to install fixture that gives  a soft glow when illuminated. The colors and swirls resemble the masterpiece oil on canvas created by the Dutch Post -  Impressionist painter. Standing about 11 inches high and 7 inches wide. 

This Tide Pool Amber Anemone Vase consists of an alternating pattern of tide pool green seaweed-like strips of color and anemone murrine. The amber and white murrine surround a clear lens of glass, creating optical windows in which you can see the inside of the vase. 

It measures about 11.25" height and 6.5" in diameter.

It is created with three layers of color on the bottom of the starfish, and a thick layer of clear glass added to the top, making the starfish optical and appear almost wet. It looks as though it was just pulled from the tide pool.

When the ocean currents swirl and move you see colors mix and blend highlighting a beautiful aquatic palette. Inspired by the colors found within Sea Clams living and thriving in the ocean waters, this beauty is a show stopper. The height is about 6 inches in height and about 3 inches wide. This is a one of kind piece. Using traditional glass blowing techniques, this vase is blown, formed, shaped and brings perfect color to a home or office. This blown glass vase by John Gibbons is 17 inches tall and 7.5 inches wide. He developed the “Vertigo Series” after realizing the optical and dizzying effects that putting colored canes of glass in a vase can have. Walking past the vase and looking at it really brings this movement to life. It’s called moire effect and it is fun to play with.

John first pulls soup can sized blobs of colored glass into pencil thick canes that stretch across the room up to 30 feet long! The rods are then cut into 4 inch lengths and laid side by side on a ceramic kiln shelf. They are then heated, squeezed together and rolled up on to a molten bubble on the end of a blow pipe and blown and shaped into a vase.
