Hand blown glass vase. This vase measures about 8.5 inches tall x 3.5 inches wide.

This vase is made by layering, certain colors on top of each other and then putting the vase into a mold. The mold creates a diamond pattern on the vase and separates the colors, revealing the layers beneath. The clear lenses in the center of the diamond draw you into the depths of the vase. I call this color combination tide pool green. This is a one of a kind piece.

The “Jack Be Little Pumpkin ” is a miniature pumpkin cultivar. “Jack Be Little” pumpkin is an heirloom variety known for its small, flattened and deeply ribbed fruit. A true inspiration when creating in the glass studio . This forever pumpkin is measuring about 2.5 inches wide and 4 inches tall and topped with a perfect glass stem. Using classic glass blowing techniques, this beautiful gourd will be a focal piece in your home.

The “Jade Knight pumpkin” is known for its square-shape, flat bottom , and being moderately ribbed with a unique dark gray-green color. “Jade Knight” pumpkins have trailing vines and are excellent yielders, a true inspiration when creating in the glass studio . This forever pumpkin is measuring about 4 inches wide and 5 inches tall and topped with a perfect glass stem. Using classic glass blowing techniques, this beautiful gourd will be a focal piece in your home.

The “Jade Vortex” is created by first rolling up jade green rods of glass over a bubble and then twisting the bubble to make a spiral of green and clear in between. Then, by poking a hole in the side of the bubble and placing a new blow pipe in the hole, the bubble is turned so that the spiral is on the side of the glass and not the bottom. The bubble is blown out and flattened with large thick cork paddles. Once the bubble has cooled the bottom is flattened, another metal rod with a little bit of glass on the end is attached to the bottom of the bubble, and the glass is broken off the blow pipe. The neck is stretched out by heating it in a 2000 degree oven. When the vase is finished, it is put into an oven to cool slowly overnight to room temperature.

The Jade Vase is made from blown glass with an elegant jade green color, topped with clear glass wrapped in 24 karat gold foil. This vase was inspired from a jade necklace worn by John’s Aunt, which she got in China.

The Anemone Windows Vase by John Gibbons is inspired by the patterns and movements of the ocean. It is an original work of art. The windows are optical and change with addition of light. 

It measures about 12” height and 8" in diameter.

The pattern in this blown glass vase is achieved by cutting small glass rods and tiles, arranging them in a pattern, and then fusing them together in a 2100 degree kiln. A blow pipe is then rolled along the edge of the glass to form a cylinder. The bottom of the cylinder is closed, which creates a bubble, allowing the glass to then be blown and shaped into the vase. Gibbons uses the optical properties of glass to create a magnifying-glass effect in which the pattern undulates when viewed.

This hand sculpted glass starfish was created by John Gibbons of Eureka California and measures about 7.5 inches in diameter (from the longest two legs across).

I try to capture the essence of the starfish in a tide pool. The starfish is created with the color pattern on the bottom of the starfish that gets magnified from the thick layer of optical clear glass on the top, making the starfish almost look wet. The pattern on this particular star is called Murrine, an Italian glass technique where I take a glass cane (long rod of glass) and cut it in cross-sections to reveal a pattern that mimics the natural texture of the starfish in the wild. People have also said that it looks like barnacles on the starfish.

This is a lucky marble that is about 2 inches in size and a wonderful charm. I start by making a four leaf clover with green and white glass into murrine. I use blue and white glass as the base, with clear glass surrounding the clover and leafs. I shape the sphere with a graphite mold into a perfect form.
