This hand sculpted glass starfish was created by John Gibbons of Eureka, California. It measures about 6" in diameter.
I try to capture the essence of the tide pool in this optical and rainbow colored glass. The starfish is created with a bright rainbow color pattern on the bottom that gets magnified from the thick optical layer of clear glass on the top, the starfish almost looks wet. The pattern on this particular star is created by using the bottom cut offs from rainbow vases. I saved them for years and figured I can use them in my stars for a new kind of pattern.
